What does the word Realtor mean & why should you care

If you are in the market to sell or buy a home, by now you have heard or read multiple times, you NEED to use a Realtor®. You may be asking: “What does that really mean, and why is it important to me? How are they different than a Real Estate Agent? With technology, I can handle the paperwork myself.”

First let’s define, what does the word Realtor® mean?

According to the https://www.nar.realtor/membership-marks-manual/definition-of-realtor website:

The term REALTOR® has one, and only one, meaning:

REALTOR® is a federally registered collective membership mark which identifies a real estate professional who is member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics.

The single most important rule governing the MARK is that it may only be used to convey this meaning, and never used to convey another meaning.

Stay tuned for future posts and we will cover why this should be important to you, and how a Realtor® can help you in buying or selling a home, and why they are so important.
